The Monastery of St Antony the Great has experienced a long and rich history that dates from the 4th century to the present, and hence has attracted the attention of many prominent scholars and historians over time.

In particular, in recent years, historians have done tremendous work to clean and restore the impressive 13th century wall paintings in the Monastery's ancient church, as well as carry out various conservation projects within the Monastery.
