RESTORATION OF MONASTIC BUILDINGS

In 2002, the Egyptian government began, in collaboration with the Monastery, what was to be an 8 year project to restore the Monastery. Work took place to renovate of the main surrounding wall of the Monastery, the two main churches of St Antony and the Holy Apostles, the monks' living quarters, and the ancient fortress.
