THE CHURCH OF THE HOLY VIRGIN MARY AND ST ANTONY THE GREAT

Upon entering through the outer Monastery gates, one notices to the left a beautifully domed cathedral located at the foot of the majestic Galalah mountain ranges, the construction of which also began in the early 21st century, under the direction of His Grace Bishop Yostos. This church is another wonderful example of modern masonry, for the entire building is constructed from blocks carved from the mountain rock. Made entirely of limestone, it creates for the church an illuminating effect, which is only fitting; considering it is dedicated in the honourable names of the blessed saints the holy Virgin Mary and St Antony the Great. The church contains some of the most beautiful and expressive modern wall paintings of the Resurrection and Second Coming, aswell as the great monastic fathers.
